What is the mean deviation of x 2x x 1 and 3x i... - JAMB Mathematics 2009 Question
What is the mean deviation of x, 2x, x + 1 and 3x, if their mean is 2?
A
0.5
B
1.0
C
1.5
D
2.0
correct option: d
deviation x - \(\bar{x}\)
x - 2 + 2x - 2 + (x + 1) - 2 + 3x - 2 = 0
x - 2 + 2x - 2 -2x - 2 + 3x - 2 = 0
= 4x - 8
4x = 8
x = \(\frac{8}{4}\)
= 2
x - 2 + 2x - 2 + (x + 1) - 2 + 3x - 2 = 0
x - 2 + 2x - 2 -2x - 2 + 3x - 2 = 0
= 4x - 8
4x = 8
x = \(\frac{8}{4}\)
= 2
